“We are so grateful to the amazing Taube team for connecting us to our family heritage in such a personal and informative manner. We can’t think of a better way to launch Kira’s bat mitzvah preparations! Through your leadership, our whole family has a better sense of who we are, where we came from and the importance of giving back in support of the Jewish diaspora. Dziękuję bardzo!”
Taube Jewish Heritage Tours had the pleasure of organizing a family tour for the Pasternack-Bardin family from the San Francisco Bay Area. Joanne Pasternack, was joined by her husband Robert Bardin, and their two children, Reid and Kira.
Joanne is the Head of Global Impact at ServiceNow and former Vice President & Executive Director of Community Relations and the Community Foundations for the Golden State Warriors and the San Francisco 49ers.
The family, well-experienced in traveling the world, came to learn about the history of Warsaw and explore their family roots. On their first day in Warsaw, they toured the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, the Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute and had a consultation at the Jewish Genealogy & Family Heritage Center. Later family visited the Zabinski Villa, the site where Mr. Jan Zabinski, the zookeeper, and his family hid Jews during World War II.
The family also enjoyed Warsaw’s culinary delights and had a special privately guided tour of Warsaw’s soccer stadium, built between 2008-2011, enjoying peeks behind the scenes.
The family, committed to social action, participated in a mitzvah project to support the mission of the PUSZKE Foundation, which was created at the initiative of several members of the Warsaw Jewish community response to the needs of the Jewish community in Poland. The puszkes (cans) prepared will be distributed to Jewish institutions around Warsaw. Puszke is looking for the next group of volunteers so please let us know!
